The Must Do Customisation
I have carried out numerous customisations to my RE Interceptor 650 but the RSTech Belt Drive Conversion is by far the most outstanding as it has made a significant difference to the overall performance of the bike. The RE Interceptor is everything I want in a motorcycle however, the RSTech Belt Drive Conversion takes it too another level. Communication with RSTech and shipping to Australia was prompt and hassle free. Although it was my mechanic’s first time fitting the kit, he was impressed with the straightforwardness of the install. As for value for money, nothing compares with the subsequent smoothness and quietness of the ride. Gone is the “clunk” when engaging first gear. There is no chain slap whatsoever during acceleration/deceleration making riding through bends even more engaging. I appreciate that the throttle itself hasn’t physical changed but the smoothness of power delivery is remarkable. And best of all, the is no requirement to oil the chain every 1000km so no mess and cheaper servicing. Best money I’ve ever spent.

I'm 100% satisfied with the belt drive, and it does everything I hoped it would. My primary "want" from the belt drive had to do with gold powder coated wheels. They would be dirty after any ride. I don't have to mess with that anymore. So that's a "win".
As far as "smoothness" - I had no complaints about the Interceptor before the swap. I will say though - both on acceleration and more so on deceleration- it's quite smooth. Very smooth - and I really do like it. Downshifting feels really nice.
Also - I think acceleration is no different than the chain drive. If there is any "loss" of torque of any kind I do not perceive it. That was one concern I read a lot about, but it isn't anything I notice.
One other reason I've read for the swap is a chain being loud. I've never had a complaint about a chain being loud - but between the pipes and a helmet I wouldn't really hear a chain anyway. I'm sure it sounds different - but can't realistically make a comparison.
Overall - I consider it an "upgrade" for my wants and needs, and I think it's worth my money. As I've said though - I loved the Interceptor before - and would have just lubed and cleaned the chain, and cleaned the wheels (a lot) and kept on riding. But I'm completely happy with the belt and I'd do the swap on future motorcycles.

I like it a lot. The ride is smooth and paired with the other 2 mods it feels like a different bike. I do lots of highway and the bike sits pretty comfortably at 80 mph. I installed the belt drive with the taller gearing so rpms are low at higher speed.

I have one on my Interceptor. It's the second best mod I've made. Highly recommended, for all the reasons given.

I have the same belt kit on my Continental GT, it’s fantastically smooth. Highly recommended!

This is a great kit! We installed one on NJ Mike’s bike, and it has worked out great.
Did the belt drive conversion kit yesterday. Basically, it went better than any new aftermarket kit had any right to go!

The belt drive is a really sublime mod to your bike. You'll find it much smoother with almost zero driveline lash on/off throttle, it's really a much smoother ride, and I seem to get slightly better gas mileage too. An extra added bonus, no more chain lube to decorate my rear wheel and the back of my suit!
I'd like to do a brief follow up from a long day in the saddle yesterday.
The belt drive is a really nice upgrade from a chain.
The first thing I noticed was how much smoother it is in the on/off throttle moments, it's not as harsh in transition from being fully loaded to no load. Consequently, it has less effect on the frame attitude when entering corners.
Also, it seems I'm getting better gas mileage with it too. Although the countershaft sprocket is very heavy, the rear sprocket and belt is a lot less to move than the chain. With the kind of riding I did yesterday, I'd usually get 60-62 mpg. Yesterday I got 67.5 mpg. Could be the slightly higher gearing, or maybe a belt is just a more efficient way to transfer power from the motor to the wheel. Whatever it is, I'll take it.
Best part, when I got home I didn't have to lube the chain, and I'll never have to clean one again, ever.

Everything well packed as you always do with anything you ship. Excellent!

The belt drive kit arrived last week, and now it's installed. Everything works very well! Looking forward to many years of maintenance free operation.
The quality of the parts is outstanding, thanks Robert!! The instructions were fine, but the belt tensioning process, both cold and hot, was a bit fidgety with the 10lb. tool, but I made it through.
I have to congratulate this forum community for creating a culture that allowed someone like Robert to come forward to take the time and effort to design, fabricate, and make available an enhancement for our machines. Truly outstanding!

Interesting how an independent machinist can make a major improvement to a motorcycle designed by dozens and built in a factory staffed by hundreds.
Superb work!

Easily the best mod I made on my GT

I have this conversion on my super meteor, although I had to wait a while for it to arrive here in Cyprus it was well worth the wait, a really well made and engineered kit, very pleased with the transformation it makes to the riding experience of the super meteor

I have one on my RE SM 650 and I love it. Sure its a bit pricey but totally worth it imo. Fitted myself at home in half a lazy Saturday. Getting the tension right takes a bit of a faffing around though. Smooth and quiet with no more oily mess.

I'm loving the belt drive on my super meteor, so much smoother and less revs at higher speed due to higher gearing. Seems to get better MPG as well, average around 70-75 mpg with mostly two up riding

Fitted belt drive last weekend! Done 100ish miles on it and its fantastic. So smooth now. Gearchanges up and down like knife through butter. No hunting or snatching from the chain drive and no messy oil everywhere. Expensive but worth it!
